NCAA Football Preview – Louisville Cardinals @ Auburn Tigers

Louisville Cardinals @ Auburn Tigers

Week One of College Football action continues on Saturday as we’re treated to a weekend full of games. One of the stand out fixtures of week one has also been hailed the SEC matchup of the week. This game features the always competitive Auburn Tigers of the SEC as they face the ACC’s Louisville Cardinals in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

We think the Louisville Cardinals will clear the -10.5 line which is currently 9/10 with 888 Sport. If you ‘Treble the Odds’ on a £10 stake it could return £57. Click here or the banner below to sign up for this offer.

The Louisville Cardinals will be happy with their efforts in 2014 in their first season without start Quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater. They managed 9 wins and 4 losses in their 2014 campaign, finishing fourth in the ACC, ranked 24th in the country. They lost in their Bowl Game to the Georgia Bulldogs. Louisville have yet to name a starting Quarterback, with three in contention for the spot. They’ve also lost their top three receivers from last season which means the a lot of the offence will be on Brandon Ratcliff’s shoulders, meaning they’ll be running the ball often. They’ll also be hoping new addition James Quick can swiftly live up to expectations. Pio Vatuvei and Brandon Rankins will be leading the defence for the Cardinals this season as top pass rushers on a depleted defence.

Despite earning a solid 8-5 record in 2014, the Auburn Tigers only went 4-4 in conference play which saw them occupy joint 6th in the SEC. The Tigers will see this as a disappointing campaign seeing as they came on the back of a 2013 which saw them lose in the National Championship game to the Florida State Seminoles. Jeremy Johnson takes over as the starting Quarterback who is being touted as a potential impact player for his dual threat capabilities. The start of the offence will be D’haquille Williams who may be one of the best receivers in College Football. He caught 45 passes for 730 yards last season. Defensive issues caught Auburn last season, but with the #1 recruit in the nation, Byron Cowart, being added to their defensive line along with the returning Carl Lawson, their defence is being displayed as a dangerous unit this year.

enhanced odds

When comparing Louisville’s talented team last season to the team that will take the field today, it’s obvious why there’s some question marks surrounding the Cardinals. They’ve lost 4 of their starting skill players on offence and 7 starters on their defence. This includes their starting QB whom there is no official starter named yet. The Tigers addressed a number of glaring issues from last season, especially on the defensive side of the ball which boasts the #1 recruit in the nation and one of the best Cornerbacks in the nation in Jonathan Jones. With new Defensive Coordinator, Will Muschamp, coming in from his former post as the defensive minded Head Coach of Florida Gators, there’s a lot to be excited about in regards to this talented and developed Auburn defence and already solid offence. With no starter named at Quarterback for the Cardinals and a bunch of positions to replace, I don’t see them staying close to this talented Auburn team. I like Auburn to win by 10.5 points.
