NCAA Football Preview – Auburn Tigers @ Louisiana State University Tigers

With the NFL kicking off last week and two weeks of College Football action in the books, American Football in America is well and truly underway. The strong schedule continues this week as week three of the NCAA Football presents some really competitive match-ups. We’ll first take a trip down south to The Pelican State with a high stakes SEC match-up in the wings. The LSU Tigers seek to continues their strong start to the season as they play against an Auburn Tigers team who narrowly escaped the upset of the season last week.

We think that LSU will cover the -6.5 on offer form 888 Sport. Trebling the Odds on a £10 bet it could return £55.50 so sign up by clicking here or the banner below to take advantage of this offer.

The Auburn Tigers, albeit unbeaten in two games so far, needed an overtime period in order to defeat Jacksonville State last week after being tied 20 points each at the end of regulation. They eventually pulled through, but it did leave questions marks hanging over the nineteenth best team in the country. Jeremy Johnson is still looking like he’s settling into his role as the starting Quarterback, with three touchdowns and five interceptions to his name, however he has managed a post 60% completion ratio. Peyton Barber has been the offence for Auburn so far, leading the running game with an average of 5.1 yards per carry, with a total of 240 yards and one touchdown in two games. The defence is a clear problem with an average of 421 yards allowed and 22 points allowed.

The LSU Tigers kicked off their season a little later than they wanted after their week one opener against McNeese State was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. They came back in week two with an incredibly hard fixture against Mississippi State. They pulled ahead with great quality in the first quarter going up 14-0, leading 21-6 by the start of the fourth quarter and eventually winning 21-19. Despite the 337 yards on offence, it wasn’t really due to the passing game as Quarterback Brandon Harris only made 9 completions for 71 yards, however he did add 48 rushing yards. One of the top runners in College Football led the charge for the Tigers who ran for 159 yards and added a trifecta of touchdowns. Although they allowed 378 yards, a lot of the yards came late on.

enhanced odds

There’s nothing better than divisional games, and this fixture provides excitement and some fantastic action each and every year. LSU currently lead the series 27-21, however they fell victim last season to a brutal 41-7 beatdown in Auburn. With the fixture returning back to Louisiana, LSU will be keen for redemption. The battle here will be of which defence can contain these two heavyweight offences. This is the reason I’m siding with LSU. Although both Quarterbacks have been average so far, Brandon Harris has made much more vital throws under pressure than what Johnson has. The run game is also significantly better, and this LSU offence will offer a much more versatile and threatening look that what Jacksonville State does. I think this Auburn defence struggles to shut down Fournette and LSU taste victory again, comfortably covering the spread by a score or two.
