NFL Preview – Minnesota Vikings vs Pittsburgh Steelers

FOOTBALL’S BACK! Probably not the football you’re thinking of, however with the return of the Premier League yesterday, today also marks the day of the start of the NFL 2015/16 preseason, the first game since February. As always, we start the season off with the prestigious Hall of Fame Game showcase, contested at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. This year sees the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Minnesota Vikings in what is sure to be a hard hitting game.

We believe that the Vikings have what it takes to win the game, and they are priced at 13/20 with 888 Sport. If you ‘Treble the Odds’ on a £10 bet, you could receive £49.50. Sign up for an account by clicking here or the banner below.

The Vikings are one of a few young and developing teams in the NFL. Following a few seasons of misery, Mike Zimmer has finally built a young core on his team full of dynamic players who are making an impact. Their quarterback, ‘Touchdown’ Teddy Bridgewater begins his post-rookie campaign coming off the back of a season where he was probably the best rookie QB. He will be taking touches for the second ever time with returning superstar Running Back Adrian Peterson, who missed last season with legal troubles and community service, however with AP’s new contract signed, he is raring to go. It’s likely that the Vikings will play their starters for the first quarter, but they have a solid depth of played to fall back on.

The Steelers will be keen on starting the season with a bang following a disappointing dismissal from the playoffs last year after missing some of their main playmakers. Big Ben Roethlisberger lead the Steel Nation to the playoffs following a fantastic latter half to the season which saw Le’veon Bell and Antonio Brown make up one of the best offensive tandems in the NFL along with Big Ben. Bell is to miss the first two games of the season due to a failed drug test which also means he misses out tonight. This Steelers team looked like the dominant team they had sought to be with a dynamic offence and a defence led by Troy Polamalu, however his retirement is sure to play some impact into this team.

Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach, Mike Tomlin has been very vocal in regard to who he’s playing tonight, and he’s said that a lot of starters won’t even see time on the field. When you consider the need for continued development of Touchdown Teddy and the fact that Peterson will be playing for the first time since September 2014, it’s hard not to put the eggs in the Viking’s basket for this game. The Vikes have more to work on and more to improve than what the Steelers have, and whilst the Steelers will use the game as a showcase, the Vikings will use the opportunity to legitimately figure out what type of offence works best and to work the starters. With the prospect of having AP and Teddy Bridgewater on the field, I’m siding with the Vikings in this tilt. Minnesota Vikings to win.
