Champions League Preview – Week 6 – Group Stages

Champions League PreviewWeek 6 – Group Stages.

Tonight is an interesting night of football. There are plenty of games where there is so much to play for, and a number of games where the complete opposite is true. I have done a ‘for-fun’ 8 fold that has odds of 183, but there are a couple bets in there I will also be staking as singles. Here are my Champions League week 6 previews for the Wednesdays games.

Barcelona vs PSG

This is one of the matches of the night. Despite both teams having already qualified, they go head to head tonight to claim top spot in the group. The last time these teams met in the Champions League at the end of the September, PSG narrowly won 3-2. Both teams possess firepower and this could quite easily become a game of who can score most. PSG are likely to be a little more cautious as they currently sit top by a point and a draw would see them through. That positions them to score on the break, but an early goal from Barcelona could open the tie up.

Roma vs Man City

Arguably the biggest game of the night, as Roma and City battle it out for second place, with CSKA also having a chance if they beat Bayern and these two teams draw. City are definitely weakened without Aguero, Silva and Toure but it’s not enough for me to bet on Roma straight win or double chance. In what is a clearly must win game for both teams I can see it getting pretty heated. City aren’t averse to a card and neither are Roma, and neither is the referee. He’s given out an average of 5.5 cards a game so far in this years UCL (red cards count for more). I usually don’t go for these bets, but I can see the referee exerting his presence early and someone from either team doing the same.
