New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers left me reeling when they beat the Colts a couple of weeks ago. On that day, the Colts didn’t show up and Pittsburgh’s mixing of the passing and running game was impeccable, with ‘Big Ben’ Roethlisberger displaying his accuracy and excellent decision making from the QB position. However, this wasn’t a flash in the pan and the Steelers notched 43 points last week too. They travel to the New York Jets for NFL week 10 who are simply awful and possess a 1-8 record with 8 losses on the bounce. They haven’t ran many teams close and I just don’t believe they have the offensive prowess to outscore Pittsburg, nor the defence to contain a team that can get points on the board. The Steelers are running up ahead of steam and although Roethlisberger won’t be as electric as he has been the past two games he will still get a couple TD throws. The Steelers have a couple injuries in defence and the Jets do have a good running game but I am confident they can clear the -4 line on offer.

Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears

The Packers had a bye last week so they will be fully rested and raring for this game. They will also have had plenty of preparation time to pinpoint the holes they will pick in this injury ridden Chicago Bears team. The defensive issues have hit the Bears severely and I doubt they will receive any mercy from a Packers team that lost in their last game to the Saints. The Packers and Rodgers are formidable at home and I expect them to get another win to put some extra pressure on Detroit Lions who sit top of the NFC North. The Packers defence isn’t water-tight, in fact it’s fairly porous, but the Bears won’t muster enough of an offensive challenge to worry the Packers like a team such as the Patriots, Cowboys or Broncos might; so the Packers look good for beating the default line on offer.

Baltimore Ravens vs Tennesse Titans

The fact that this is one of the biggest lines to clear this week makes me a little nervous, but everything is pointing to a Baltimore blowout. The Titans have lost six games this year and four of those have been by 14 points or more. The Titans also seem to give up a lot of rushing yards, 134.8 per game, and Justin Forsett possesses the leagues best carry average of 5.4 yards, so I expect the Ravens to have some success on the ground. Joe Flacco also has the ability to throw a great deep pass and despite not being quite on the level of some of the other current NFL QB’s, he still has enough skill and experience to do some damage. On the other hand, a relatively young Titans team is led by rookie QB Mettenger who isn’t in the same league as Andrew Luck. The Ravens will be swarming all over Mettenberger and I don’t think he will get the protection and time in the pocket to make a significant contribution. The Titans have an okay ground game, but the Ravens will be desperate to make a big statement at home this week and get their season back on track, and despite the line on offer looking fairly big, Baltimore should do the business.
